Active Citizens Volunteer

The Active Citizens are a group of adults with learning disabilities who share an interest in learning and participating in their local communities. Together they have worked with local authorities, community groups and local organisations to develop awareness and understanding of learning disabilities in the community. Some notable projects include the development of the Safer Places Scheme in Eastleigh and the redevelopment of Grantham Green, as well as offering their expert advice on local community initiatives.

The group usually works on several projects throughout the year, developing their understanding of a topic over time and producing a record that reflects their learning and experience, using a variety of creative mediums such as collage, art, crafts and writing. The group also invites guest speakers and experts to give talks, using these opportunities to share their learning with other members of our community.

The group meets on a Tuesday between 10am and 2pm, in Eastleigh.

We are looking for a volunteer to support the co-ordinator at the weekly sessions, to create a welcoming and friendly environment for all group attendees and provide support and encouragement to group members to participate in all activities.

All reasonable expenses will be covered, for instance mileage costs for travelling to the group. You will need to:

- be within reasonable travelling distance of Eastleigh

- have your own means of travel

Volunteers must be over 18.
